City of Hope
Carissa Kono, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist at City of Hope, a national comprehensive cancer center. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Microbiology in 2014, then went on to pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Washington graduating in 2022. She worked in both the adult and pediatric acute care settings before pursuing further residency training at City of Hope to further her career as an oncologic physical therapist. During residency, she gained experience working in both the inpatient and outpatient oncology settings along with a wide variety of oncologic diagnoses and complexity levels. She also conducted a quality analysis project studying the effect of City of Hope's pelvic floor rehabilitation program on males with urinary incontinence. After completion of residency, she remained at City of Hope primarily in the outpatient setting and recently became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy.
