Dr. De Ornelas is the Assistant Chief of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Services at VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. As a graduate from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology, he pursued his Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree at the University of the Pacific.
He began his career at the VAPAHCS in 2011 as a staff physical therapist in the Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Unit specializing in Traumatic Brain Injury and Amputee rehabilitation and has served in various capacities as Inpatient and Outpatient Physical Therapy Supervisor, and the Director of Rehabilitation before becoming the Assistant Chief. He serves a member of the VA National Dry Needling Committee and an instructor in the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System Dry Needling Training and Research program.
