Vanessa Monique Yanez, PhD, MSOT, OTR/L, is a clinician, researcher, and cancer survivor specializing in cancer rehabilitation. Her lived experience deeply informs her evidence-based, occupation-focused approach to care and program development across the cancer continuum.
Dr. Yanez’s career spans acute care, acute rehabilitation, outpatient, home health, and telehealth, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of survivorship needs. She co-founded and directed a private oncology-focused practice and served as contributing faculty at the University of St. Augustine, where she taught psychosocial care to graduate students. In her current clinical role at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, she is actively involved in innovative programming, grant-funded research, and mentorship of novice and experienced clinicians. Her clinical and academic work focuses on underserved populations, with expertise in geriatric and adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology, hematological cancers, hematopoietic cell transplantation, sexual health, mental health, cognitive rehab, and health/lifestyle management.
A veteran speaker, educator, and advocate, Dr. Yanez is committed to translating research into practice and expanding access to high-quality cancer rehabilitation. Dr. Yanez actively contributes to the field through continuing education classes, university lectures, publications, and presentations at state, national, and international conferences to elevate the role of cancer rehab in oncology.
