Dr. Shamali Dusane is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences at Northwestern University. Her current research focuses on testing short-term effect of walking in a balance challenging Movement Amplification environment among people with chronic stroke. She joined Northwestern University as a Post-doctoral fellow in July 2021 and since then have been working with Dr. Keith Gordon. As a post-doctoral fellow, she worked on an ongoing Department of Veterans Affairs funded clinical trial investigating the effect of high intensity walking and balance training performed in a novel Movement Amplification environment on walking balance among individuals with incomplete spinal cord injury. Her doctoral research at the University of Illinois at Chicago focused on exploring how people with chronic stroke adapt and improve their reactive balance control following large external perturbations (slips and trips). Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her Bachelors and Masters in Physical Therapy from Seth G.S.Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India.
