Occupational Therapy Student

Emily Michaelis is from Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her Bachelor's of Science in Biology through the Honors College at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri in May 2021. After college she served as an AmeriCorps member with the AmeriCorps State and National program for the Notre Dame Mission Cooperation in Orange, California and with the AmeriCorps VISTA program with Volunteer Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa.
Emily is currently a Doctor of Occupational Therapy student at Des Moines University (DMU) in West Des Moines, Iowa. While attending DMU she acted as a mentor during the 2024 Health PASS program and worked at a local assisted living facility as a medication manager and resident assistant. Her anticipated graduation date is May 2026.
Emily hopes to continue working with older adults in acute care or a skilled nursing setting after receiving her Doctorate.
