Kathryn Magee is a Therapy Manager and research Speech-Language Pathologist at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Her clinical areas of interest include right hemisphere dysfunction, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive-communication disorders. Her research areas of interest include social cognition, executive functions, apathy, and patient engagement.
She has developed educational materials for differential diagnosis of the area of cognitive-communication, guidelines for assessing Right Hemisphere Dysfunction, and test interpretation references. She has provided training for SMART goal writing, guidelines for treating patients with dementia, and implementing clinical practice guidelines for cognitive-communication practice. She has also, presented on many topics including right hemisphere dysfunction, pragmatics, cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome, and motivation in rehabilitation.
She has been involved with research topics including emotion recognition, rewards sensitivity, vagal nerve stimulation, patient engagement, and long covid. Some of which have been presented at ACRM previously and others are under review for publication.
She strives to provide the best care for patients by implementing evidence-based practice into the area of cognitive-communication as well as continued research investigation into overall cognitive functioning and ways to push practice forward in human ability.
