Providing consumer education to empower people to take an active role in their healthcare, explore research opportunities, and all programs related to improving the lives of people with and affected by SCI are priorities of Ms. Pernigotti. While fulfilling roles as a Senior Project Coordinator at an acute care rehabilitation hospital and as an Executive Board Member for the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Connecticut, collaborations between both have helped span the bridge in knowledge and accessible educational options in the community. The development and promotion of the SCI&U Project that highlights the Spinal Cord Injury Peer Health Coach role helps to empower people with an SCI to promote empowerment to others with an SCI, thereby helping to close the gaps in education, camaraderie, and employment.
