Health Program Specialist

Dr. Marcy Manes Pape is a Health Program Specialist under the Division of Clinical Research with NINDS at NIH. She works with researchers and grants related to a host of neurological disorders and stroke, including liaison work for a Data and Safety Monitoring Board. She has over 20 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist where she worked in many in-and-outpatient settings with a focus on recovery for those with various stages of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and vestibular dysfunction. Her most recent experience was working with service members on the campus of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to address sequela related to TBI and psychological health. Marcy is a certified Brain Injury specialist, and is a Certified Clinician in Vestibular, Lymphedema and Neuro-Dynamic Therapy. She has research experience and publications on balance and vestibular dysfunctions, specifically studying the impact of mild TBI on higher level balance functions, central vestibulopathy and smooth pursuits. She has also investigated the use of virtual environments for assessments of dual tasking and vestibular integration among service members with a history of TBI. She graduated with her Masters in Physical Therapy from Drexel University and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University.
