Cecelia Hill is a 3rd-year student at Iowa State University. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Health. Along with coursework, Cecelia is very involved in the Ames community. She participates in the ISU Alternative Medicine and Music Lab, where she volunteers with therapy and conducts research on Parkinson's disease. Her other extracurriculars include leadership for the Iowa State University Cyclone Football Varsity Marching Band, ISU Honors Program member and previous peer mentor, Exercise is Medicine Club member and volunteer, co-president of the ISU Pre-Health Club and Conference, College of Health and Human Sciences Ambassador, Salt Company Ames, tutoring for the ISU Athletics Department and Department of Kinesiology, and working as a Rehab Tech at ChildServe, Ames. Cecelia enjoys her coursework as she prepares to apply to Physical Therapy school.
Cecelia is interested in pursuing a profession in physical therapy because she wants to help rehabilitate others through movement-based therapy. She enjoys learning about the human body and its functions in her classes, as she can apply this to her future career. Her current coursework in biomechanics and motor control & learning is allowing her to gain insight into topics that are invaluable to physical therapists. Her involvement in the Exercise is Medicine club and previous movement-based coursework has led to a passion for the importance of movement for one's health. She enjoys assisting in human subjects research, as she gets to explore and apply the content she is learning in the classroom. This includes direct patient care, physiological principles underlying therapy, and analyzing physiological changes due to therapy. Her role as a rehab tech allows her to see and assist the therapy of patients with neurological developmental issues. She has a passion for research in hopes of helping those around her through its findings.
