Professor AmyJo L.K. Verbeten, MOT, OTR/L is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Concordia University Wisconsin. With over 25 years of clinical experience, she specializes in gerontology, bringing a deep understanding of aging, healthcare systems, and occupational participation.
Professor Verbeten has served in diverse clinical and leadership roles across Acute Care, ICU, Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Industrial Rehabilitation, and outpatient settings. She has led high-performing interdisciplinary teams, achieving 99th percentile rankings in patient, provider, and staff satisfaction. She was also a key contributor to the successful opening of a greenfield hospital.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Concordia University Wisconsin. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Leadership and Gerontology at Concordia University Chicago.
Driven by a passion for community, connection, and advocacy, Professor Verbeten is dedicated to mentoring future professionals and advancing client-centered, context-aware solutions. Her research focuses on dementia and spirituality, productive aging, and fall prevention.
