Dr. Claire Bird is a licensed clinical psychologist and research investigator at Baylor Scott and White Health System, Baylor University Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in Dallas, TX. Her research and clinical work centers around psychological correlates and outcomes associated with illness and injury for patients and families, the impact of culturally specific factors on mental health disparities, and the impact of the social environment on trauma outcomes among racially marginalized groups. Namely, she has expertise in risk and resilience factors, particularly related to chronic stress, discrimination, and socioenvironmental factors, associated with psychological and physiological outcomes (i.e., PTSD) following acute illness or injury among racially marginalized populations (e.g., African Americans/Black Americans). She has conducted and carried out multiple studies within hospital settings at level 1 trauma centers and have knowledge and experience in the unique factors associated with completing research in this population.
