Dr. Pritchard is a licensed occupational therapist in the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife and Harvard Medical School. He specializes in observational research design and secondary analysis of large data sets. His research substantively prioritizes functional health outcomes like activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, cognitive function, and pain. To describe trends and predictors of treatments, he conducts health services research using national survey data with complex survey design analysis techniques. To compare the clinical effectiveness and safety of treatments, he leverages pharmacoepidemiology methods with causal inference techniques. Using Medicare and private insurance claims data, he has demonstrated the benefits of low-risk nonpharmacologic pain treatments like occupational therapy.
