Dr. Boyd joined UIC in 2008 and has served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Research since March 2020 and took on the role of chief research information officer in August 2021. He is a professor in the department of biomedical and health information sciences and the department of physical therapy in the College of Applied Health Sciences and the department of medical education in the College of Medicine. He is also the associate chief health information officer for innovation and research at UI Health. The research in his laboratory involves data simplification to improve clinical outcomes engaging patients, administrators and clinicians. Dr. Boyd serves as a PI for the Creating AI-Enabled All-Health Team Data Fabric (CAIDF) project funded by ARPA-H.
