Dr. Mallinson established the Advanced Metrics Lab (AML) in 2016 to support the idea that better outcomes measurement can improve healthcare and inform healthcare policy. She advocates that assessments should look and operate like rulers, to measure one dimension at a time and compare real patient differences, regardless of who is using the assessment or who they are measuring. Her research is about how observations are turned into measures and visualized to help clinicians, care partners, and patients make better treatment decisions, together.
