Dr. Marwa A. Amer is a Physiatrist and Lecturer PM&R at Alexandria University, Egypt. She has MD, MSc and PhD in Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation. Her research work focuses primarily on musculoskeletal injuries among patients with neurological disorders. She had her residency training in PM&R at Alexandria University Hospitals in Egypt. She has joined Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) unit since 2011 and participated in its establishment at Alexandria University, Egypt. Since that time, she has been practicing ESWT in rehabilitation medicine. She is currently a regular member at the international society for Medical Shockwave treatment (ISMST) and a member of the American Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ASMST).
After obtaining her PhD in PM&R from Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University in Egypt in, Dr. Amer received post-doctoral scholarship in regenerative medicine at New Jersey Regenerative Institute, NJ, USA. In October 2023, she joined the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program in Regenerative Rehabilitation at Kessler Foundation, NJ, USA where she has been engaged in various projects evaluating the safety and effectiveness of regenerative treatments for people with spinal cord injury. She graduated from the fellowship in June 2025.
