Graduate Research Assistant
University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
My interest in Pediatrics and Neurology grew after pursuing a psychology degree at Vanderbilt University. I took multiple childhood development and neuroscience courses to fulfill my degree requirements. These, along with my pre-medical courses, made me decide to pursue a career in the medical field. Following my graduation in 2022, I sought to further my clinical experience and worked as a medical assistant at a nephrology clinic in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, I spent time volunteering at the children’s hospital, which strengthened my interest in Pediatrics. I got accepted into the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2024, where I learned of Dr. Evanson’s research on traumatic brain injuries through the Medical Student Scholars Program. I applied to the MSSP’s Child and Adolescent Health track and worked on the return to school project for 8 weeks during the summer of 2025. Contributing to the retrospective chart review helped me form a foundation in basic research skills and communication. I also gained exposure to Complex Care and Rehabilitation Medicine for the first time. For my future career goals, I hope to work in a pediatric or neurologic subspecialty. I would be interested in continuing research on patient health and social outcomes, using my prior undergraduate background and the experience gained from my summer research to supplement my work.
