Amelia Hicks, PhD, is a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Brain Injury Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She completed her graduate training in clinical neuropsychology in Melbourne, Australia, and has worked in clinical brain injury research for over a decade. Dr. Hicks’ work spans the full continuum of recovery—from the acute post-injury phase to decades after injury—with a focus on psychiatric, cognitive, and broader health outcomes. She has applied neuroimaging (PET, MRI), blood-based biomarkers, and genetic methods to advance understanding of traumatic brain injury (TBI) pathophysiology. She has contributed to several large-scale clinical trials evaluating both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions aimed at improving outcomes such as behavioral dysregulation and coping. Dr. Hicks has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and presented her work internationally. Her overarching goal is to support individuals with brain injury in leading meaningful and personally fulfilling lives.
