Dan Ding, PhD is Professor and Vice Chair for Research & Translation at the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, where she leads the Accessible SmartTech Research Group. She is also a part-time VA Research Biomedical Engineer within the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Her research interests are in the areas of leveraging technologies like Internet-of-Things devices, wearables, assistive robotics, and AI, alongside innovative provision strategies, to improve health and wellness, independence, and participation of people with disabilities and older adults. This includes both the adoption of novel tech solutions and the streamlined processes to ensure their effective integration and accessibility. She has been PI or co-PI on many federal grants and have published over 220 peer-reviewed journal and conference proceeding papers.
