Graduate Research Assistant
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Champaign, IL, United States
As a Ph.D. Candidate in Community Health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, my research primarily focuses on two areas: (1) Childhood Obesity: We have completed a study examining the prevalence of childhood obesity using various body composition and anthropometric cutoff criteria. The future direction of this research involves employing machine learning techniques to predict childhood obesity and evaluate the efficacy of different machine learning models. (2) Mental Health and Healthy Behaviors: We have investigated the relationships between multiple healthy behaviors and depression in people with and without disabilities. The next phase of this study will explore how these healthy behaviors relate to chronic stress in these populations.
I have gained valuable experience collaborating with a large interdisciplinary research team, developing a vision-based digitized neurological examination platform. The successful completion of this project instilled in me the ability to engage and communicate effectively within a highly innovative, fast-paced biomedical environment. Moving forward, my future career goal is to leverage my statistical expertise and research experience in the health industry, aiming to become a biostatistician or data scientist who contributes to health promotion nationally or globally and offers essential data insights to health stakeholders.
