Diana Cherkiss, MMS, MPH, PA-C, is an Associate Professor and the Program Director of the Nova Southeastern University PA Program in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She graduated from the University of Central Florida cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and molecular biology in 2004. She then went on to graduate with honors and earn a Master of Medical Science degree from the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Ft. Lauderdale Physician Assistant program in 2008, and a Master’s in Public Health degree from NSU in 2017. She earned a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida in 2020. She has been a family medicine physician assistant since 2008, specializing in integrative and regenerative health, treating patients from 10 years of age and older for the duration of their lives. Professor Cherkiss joined the NSU PA program faculty in 2013 as a principal faculty member. In 2019, she became the Academic Director, and she now leads the Physician Assistant program at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, as Program Director. She has presented numerous times locally and nationally on diversity, equity, and inclusion as it relates to the admissions process in PA programs and the impact of unconscious bias on health care, as well as student success and professionalism. Additionally, she is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Nu Sigma Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Eta Honor Society, and a member of the Pi Alpha Honor Society, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, and Physician Assistant Education Association. Professor Cherkiss is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and an editor for the Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice.
