Monica Tyrrell, MA CCC-SLP, is an experienced speech language pathologist working in the stroke and cardiac program at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, serving as a practice resource to the speech pathology department and as a rehabilitation stroke champion to her team, promoting evidence based practice in her discipline and field for implementation into the inpatient rehabilitation setting to improve patient outcomes. Graduating with her master's degree in speech language pathology from the University of Florida in 2002, Monica has 23 years of experience in inpatient rehabilitation focusing on neurocovery primarily post stroke and brain injury, with experience across a wide variety of other diagnoses, including spinal cord injury and progressive neurological disorders. Monica has a passion for recovery of language, voice, and cognitive functions in order for individuals to resume preferred life roles and activities. She enjoys educating healthcare professionals on advanced techniques for dysphagia management, voice therapy, and cognitive communication strategies, developing materials and teaching fellow professionals in the Clinical Practice Enhancement program at Brooks Rehabiltation.
