TATYANA SHARGORODSKY, Pianist
Tatyana Shargorodsky was born in the former Soviet Union, where she received her elementary musical education in the Ukrainian city of Lvov. Upon completing her education in Odessa, Tatyana was engaged as an accompanist with the prestigious rhythmic gymnastics school "Vodnnic"; there she worked with the Olympic gymnastics coach Nina Vetrichenko. In 1982, Tatyana emigrated to the United States, where she became an accompanist for The Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet in Narberth. She studied ballet and attended an instructor's seminar taught by the highly acclaimed ballet teacher and renowned Vaganova method author, John White. After this seminar, she began teaching ballet to children and adults, in addition to providing piano accompaniment for other ballet classes at the Academy.
In 2001, Tatyana and her partners Margarita (DeSaa) White and Melinda Pendleton created a line of ballet music CDs under the auspices of Whitefeather Productions; seven CDs have been produced and are being sold and successfully used by ballet instructors worldwide.
In 2009, Tatyana and her partner Susan Cade created two innovative ballet programs for seniors -- Ballet for Seniors and Chair Ballet; these innovative programs combine dance-related exercise with live piano accompaniment, and are being taught in retirement communities throughout the Delaware Valley. The local publicity for these programs has been considerable.
Tatyana also teaches piano on a private basis, sharing her extensive musical knowledge, experience, and passion with students of all ages.
