Trent serves as the Program Manager for Rehabilitation Technology at Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) within Barrow Neurological Institute, a position he has held since 2018. He has been a practicing Occupational Therapist at BNI since 2001, specializing in the treatment of neurologic disorders. Trent holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Sciences (1991) and Occupational Therapy (1995) from the University of Alberta. In his current role, he leads the development and expansion of the Barrow Assistive Technology program, fostering its global recognition in the clinical application of rehabilitation robotics and advanced technologies. This includes developing innovative technologies and consulting with technology companies to optimize their devices for clinical use. A frequent speaker at international conferences, Trent shares his expertise on the clinical use, implementation, and novel applications of robotics in rehabilitation. He has also contributed to research on the development of soft robotics and has published articles in the field. Furthermore, Trent has been instrumental in organizing robotics symposiums to support the professional development of the BNI community.
