Patricia Roney, PT, DPT is the Former Program Director of the EDS program at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare. Dr. Roney earned a BS in Physical Therapy from SUNY at Buffalo, a doctorate from Western University of Health Sciences and was a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist for 20 years. She has 45 years of clinical practice with the majority dedicated to treating patients with musculoskeletal injuries or diseases. Since 2016 her patient caseload has included those with HSD/hEDS prompting her, with a co-worker, to develop a comprehensive treatment program that focused on educating patients on EDS and the various complexities related to EDS and hypermobility in addition to addressing their pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Prior to the current study, Assessment of Balance System Impairments in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Patients using Sensory Organization Test, Dr. Roney collaborated with co-workers and the research department to develop an EDS Disability Index to serve as a method to assess patient improvement and effectiveness of treatment. She is a contributor to a manuscript describing this disability index which was published in Frontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences.
