Dr. Bise is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, where he teaches musculoskeletal evaluation and treatment and leads research in value-based care delivery. A board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Bise has over 25 years of clinical and academic experience spanning outpatient orthopedics, health services research, and healthcare policy. His scholarship centers on improving the value and efficiency of rehabilitation services through the identification of low-value care, optimization of referral pathways, and development of novel performance metrics for physical therapy.

He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications including the Jack Walker Award (2024) winning paper on cost and quality in spine care. Dr. Bise’s ongoing work examines the operational and policy implications of value-based reimbursement models, leveraging data from payer and provider systems to inform scalable reform initiatives.
