Dr. Yoko Fukumura is a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Southern California’s Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy under the mentorship of Dr. Alix Sleight. To date, their research has centered on preventive medicine to improve health outcomes of various populations with specific foci in 1) applying systems frameworks to various work populations and 2) developing wide-scale individualized interventions to promote health and engagement. Currently, Dr. Fukumura applies their occupational therapy background to improve health outcomes in cancer survivors, with a particular focus on leveraging meaningful occupations in supporting health behavior change.
