Applying the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS): A Scoping Review 1942

The RTSS offers promise in advancing rehabilitation research and practice by clearly defining the components of rehabilitation treatment so they can be replicated, evaluated and improved scientifically. Since the introduction of the RTSS a decade ago, little is known about its application within the rehabilitation literature. 
The presentation of our scoping review will include to what extent and in what contexts the RTT/RTSS is applied within the field of rehabilitation.  Next, we will outline our two objectives.  The first objective of our scoping review explored the extent of the RTT/RTSS application by characterizing how authors described their purpose of describing or applying the RTT/RTSS.  We will describe how the authors specified treatments vs. a reference only to its importance.   We will also report on RTSS key terms and concepts documented in the selected studies. The second objective explored the contexts in which the RTSS has been applied, such as disciplines of authors, years of publication, target clinical populations, journals of publication, and countries of first authors.  

We will present our search strategies, inclusion/exclusion of studies, how data were extracted and how the selected articles were analyzed.  Additionally, we will present a summary of the author's notation of the purpose for applying the RTSS and whether the authors used RTSS terminology or key concepts.  We will present the summary of these findings and implications for future use of the RTSS.
