Cachexia, sarcopenia, and frailty are associated with oncology outcomes including worse morbidity and mortality. In this symposium, this multi-disciplinary team will explore how to evaluate muscle loss in older oncology patients, and how the rehabilitation approach can be tailored to improve functional status and meaningful clinical outcomes for this vulnerable patient population.

Learning Objectives:

Define cachexia and sarcopenia.
Explore how cachexia and sarcopenia and impact oncology outcomes.
Explore the relationships between sarcopenia and physical function including research outcomes from a recent prehabilitation clinical trial.
Identify rehabilitation functional measures that impact the care of patients with sarcopenia and cachexia.
