Dr. Kristen Slater is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and a fellowship-trained pain psychologist with nearly a decade of clinical and research experience. She specializes in evidence-based behavioral interventions that enhance quality of life and reduce psychological distress in individuals with chronic pain. Dr. Slater previously served as Director of Behavioral Medicine at a large interdisciplinary pain clinic in the Bay Area, where she developed pain psychology services and curriculum for a Functional Restoration Program. At Stanford, she provides clinical care, supervises pain psychology fellows, and serves as co-investigator and lead clinician on NIH- and PCORI-funded trials evaluating Empowered Relief and CBT. She is also a master faculty instructor, training clinicians internationally in Empowered Relief, and is dedicated to advancing single-session intervention science and its dissemination worldwide.
