Monika Gross, BFA, MSME/T, M.STAT, M.AmSAT, M.ATI is an Alexander technique (AT) specialist, internationally certified in1985. Since 2016, Monika has served as Executive Director of The Poise Project, a nonprofit in Western North Carolina with the mission to help the public maintain poise, dignity, and personal growth throughout all stages and challenges of life using Alexander technique (AT) principles.
Alexander technique is a cognitive embodiment intervention that can be delivered in a variety of educational and clinical settings. AT has been a part of performing arts programs for decades to train actors, dancers, and musicians to skillfully manage stressful circumstances, reduce anxiety, avoid injury and musculoskeletal pain, and increase overall functioning and performance.
Since 2018, Ms. Gross has been an active member of ACRM, participating in a number of networking groups and task forces, including the Neurodegenerative Diseases NG, Parkinsonism & Related Disorders TF and Alzheimer’s Disease TF, the Athlete Development and Sports Rehab NG, the International NG Refugee Empowerment TF, the Aging Research & Geriatric Rehab NG, the Stroke Movement Interventions TF and Aphasia and Communications Disorders TF, the Brain Injury Cognitive Rehabilitation TF, and the Arts and Neuroscience NG. Monika has presented Alexander technique based research and instructional courses at numerous international conferences, including all ARCM conferences from 2018 to 2024, as well as the 2019 ACRM Spring Meeting.
