Gareth has held the Rehabilitation Clinical Lead and Consultant Physiotherapist post at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK for 16 years. He is responsible for >120 acute and outpatient rehabilitation physiotherapists in specialities that include critical care, oncology, neurology/stroke, older persons’ medicine, overweight & obesity, vascular and amputees, and vestibular/facial rehabilitation. He finished his PhD (Rehabilitation) from King’s College London in 2019 investigating whole-body transitional movements in stroke. He is an active peer reviewer for journals and has published widely. Recent competitive grant includes a NIHR SAPCR clinical fellow award to focus on strategies implementing the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS) across clinical practice. For >10 years Gareth has led developments in clinical quality for rehabilitation at his institution realized by the development of a manifesto for rehabilitation he co-designed. He supports post-graduate masters and PhD students, and advanced practitioner programs in his team. He is a visiting research fellow at the Centre for Human and Applied Physiology at King’s College London, a practising ACP clinician, and is a professional member of the ACRM in the US and Society for Rehabilitation Research (SRR) group in the UK.
