This presentation will discuss person-centered goals as a driver of outcomes in neurorehabilitation. Goal attainment scaling (GAS) will be described as a key tool utilized to implement a person-centered plan of care, set expectations for success, and measure goal attainment. Use of motivational Interviewing (MI) to support patient identification of and engagement in person-centered goals will be explored. GAS and MI techniques will be experienced through hands on practice. Methods of implementation, barriers and facilitators of implementation, and measurement of programmatic outcomes will be described. Lessons learned and future directions will also be discussed.
